With a similar background story to the supermodel whose namesake brand is now the leader in cosmetics for women of color, the Mataano sisters emerged on the fashion scene in 2008 showcasing a brand with rich culture and talent, at merely 20 years of age. Inspired by their love and appreciation of rich cultural diversity, their designs tap into their Somali, and American heritage, lending a truly multicultural approach to the collection. The talented team have the caught the eye of the fashion elite with a cosmopolitan outlook and ability to speak to women from a global perspective.
“It’s an honor to represent and have the support of a makeup giant like IMAN Cosmetics. IMAN Cosmetics is about providing options for all different shades of skin and acknowledging and addressing variety in beauty and cosmetics,” states Idyl Mohallim. “It is necessary that our runway models reflect the diversity of our designs and we are grateful to have access to IMAN Cosmetics to complete the look,” adds co-founder Ayaan Mohallim.
Founded in 1994, IMAN Cosmetics offers one of the largest selections of flawless finish makeup and state of the art treatment products available globally. IMAN Cosmetics are designed for African American, Asian, Latina and multi-cultural women with skin tones in a myriad of shades. As newly appointed brand ambassadors, the Mataano sisters will collaborate with the brand on upcoming global events, Fashion Week shows, a limited editorial color collection and IMAN Cosmetics’ Fall 2012 campaign.
“I saw in the twins the drive and inspiration I had at that point in my life. Our shared Somali background and creative visions are a natural fit,” says Iman, CEO and Founder of IMAN Cosmetics. “I’m grateful to have reached a certain point in my life and career where I can inspire young, motivated women to follow their dreams, take a risk, and never accept defeat. We’re confident this is just the beginning of a successful and thriving partnership.”
